In this McLaren suspension tuning guide, we'll explain the benefits of Suspension Secrets camber shims and how they improve handling performance.
What Are Camber Shims
Camber Shims are precision engineered parts manufactured in-house from stainless steel. They slot in between the suspension wishbone and chassis to increase negative camber. On most McLaren models, the factory suspension does not offer enough negative camber adjustment for our Fast Road and Track geometry settings.

Why Negative Camber Matters
When a car drives around a corner, body roll pulls the inside edges of the outside tyres away from the road surface, reducing grip levels. Negative camber fixes this by ensuring more of the tyre is in contact with the road through a corner.
Suspension with negative camber means:
- Increased cornering speeds and mid-corner grip
- Improved turn-in response and steering precision
- Reduced understeer
- More even tyre wear during fast driving
Our Suspension Secrets Camber Shims for McLaren models help distribute cornering forces more evenly across the tyre surface, maximising mechanical grip.

Fitting McLaren Camber Shims
Installing our McLaren camber shims is very straightforward - simply loosen a few suspension bolts, insert the shims, and retorque the bolts. No maintenance is required after fitment either.
McLaren Suspension Geometry Alignment
Following installation of our camber shims, we recommend a full suspension geometry alignment.
By correctly adjusting camber, toe, and caster (where available), alignment ensures you maximise grip, stability, and tyre life.
Benefits of a Geometry Setup
- Sharper steering response
- Increased cornering grip
- Improved rear traction
- Enhanced braking stability
A professional alignment is the single most cost-effective handling upgrade you can make.
