Damptronic explained

The Bilstein B16 Damptronic technology is designed to be compatible with your BMW's existing electronic damper control (EDC) system. This allows you to benefit from the higher quality performance offered by the Bilstein B16 damper whilst still enjoying the Comfort, Normal and Sport selectable damper modes.

The B16 Damptronic kit is supplied with a wiring loom that plugs into the EDC connectors from the outgoing original dampers. This is a seamless process and no further modification of the car's electronics is required.

After being plugged in, the damping strength of the the B16 Damptronic coilovers becomes electronically adjustable. This makes B16 Damptronic coilovers perfect for everything from commuting to track days.

When you select the Comfort EDC mode, the dampers will automatically adjust to become very compliant and supple for relaxed cruising and road use. When Normal is selected the dampers stiffen to a level that gives additional body control and improved handling whilst still being supple enough for the road, and the Sport mode the dampers will stiffen to provide the best possible handling and body control for track applications.

The EDC compatibility of the B16 Damptronic coilovers also means you do not need to manually change the damper settings from outside the car as you would with a traditional coilover design.

Geometry Explained

Geometry
Suspension geometry is the positioning and angular movement of the suspension arms and the effect that they have upon the movement of the wheel and tyre. It is caused by the different components of the suspension system all moving in their designed paths, which together generate changes in direction and multiple forces on the wheel and tyre, making the steering and suspension operate in particular ways.
