As standard, the Porsche GT4 RS suffers with instability at the rear axle which is especially obvious when being pushed hard out on track. One of the main reasons for this is that the front and rear spring rates are not perfect matched for optimum chassis balance and damper efficiency.

The rear axle is over sprung and underdamped. This is mainly due to the GT4 RS being a car manufactured by Porsche with different components from already existing cars. Therefore, the rear dampers are actually not matched to the spring rate. This causes a hopping and skipping effect from the rear end through corners, which causes instability and oversteer and ultimately reduces driver confidence.

The front axle also contributes to the rear instability as the front springs on the standard GT4RS are actually too soft for the car. This allows the front to compress too much under heavy braking, making the rear axle go light and contributes to turn in oversteer.

To solve this, our engineers tested multiple different spring options on the GT4 RS and found the perfect balance with our selected spring rates using high quality Eibach Racing Springs for optimum longevity and performance. Our spring rates soften the rear axle slightly and stiffen the front axle slightly. This means that our rear springs match the OEM dampers, so they can be controlled through the corners, removing the skipping effect from the car. Our front springs are slightly stiffer than standard too, reducing the dive under heavy braking, keeping the rear wheels in contact with the ground and making turn in much more stable on corner entry.

As a package our spring kit not only improves the front to rear balance of the car, it increases grip and stability substantially and maximises contact patch through the corner, increasing grip levels and driver confidence substantially. As an added benefit, our spring package also allows you to lower the car 20mm lower than the standard minimum ride height to optimise the car for track use too. Standard ride height can also be maintained if you wish using the cars standard ride height adjustment.

The key benefits of the Suspension Secrets Uprated Spring Package for the Porsche 718 GT4 RS are:

  • Improved rear axle stability with rear axle "skipping" reduced heavily
  • Reduced dive under heavy braking and more stable turn in
  • High quality Eibach Racing Springs for optimum performance and longevity
  • Direct replacement of the OEM springs with no extra modification required
  • Fully compatible with OEM dampers, PASM and nose lift
  • Developed in house in the UK

Geometry Explained

Geometry
Suspension geometry is the positioning and angular movement of the suspension arms and the effect that they have upon the movement of the wheel and tyre. It is caused by the different components of the suspension system all moving in their designed paths, which together generate changes in direction and multiple forces on the wheel and tyre, making the steering and suspension operate in particular ways.

Product Development

All Suspension Secrets upgrades are designed, developed and manufactured in-house. This process includes prototyping new products using CAD and 3D printing technology, and extensive rear-world testing with professional racing drivers. Sophisticated motorsport data capturing equipment allows us to measure the handling performance gains achieved by our parts.
