The standard Porsche Carbon Ceramic Brakes (PCCB) are made from pieces of carbon that are bonded together. When used heavily, these discs can degrade quickly and the surface of them becomes rough and can even crack and chip. Once critically damaged, the discs must be replaced as their bonded construction makes them impossible to repair.

In comparison, Surface Transforms (ST) carbon ceramic discs are machined from perpendicular sheets of weaved carbon-ceramic . This layering means the discs are far tougher and more able to withstand repeated heavy brake applications.

When the outer layer of the ST disc becomes worn, the disc can be resurfaced up to 3 times. This gives a lifespan of 10-15,000 miles on track.

The unique 3D carbon-ceramic construction of ST discs gives them superior thermal management and displacement properties compared to the standard PCCB discs. ST discs will retain their optimum operating temperature for longer, and this operating temperature is approximately 200 degrees lower than the standard PCCB discs.

The smooth surface of ST discs makes brake modulation easier, and it also increases brake pad life whilst reducing vibration and harshness. ST discs weigh less than the original Porsche PCCB discs, reducing unsprung mass and helping to improve handling.
